The new playground Boston College alumni helped build for Stewart Elementary

Education is getting lessons in education. Alumni for Public Schools (APS) is creating the #100for100, an advisory board of 100 successful young professionals in Chicago improving public schools. We’re inviting you to join.

The #100for100, will do something no one else has done for kids in Chicago public schools - give their education the benefit of our education by expanding the quality and reach of APS programs.

APS volunteers have been working directly with Chicago public schools to make vital improvements for 11 years. We pair individual schools with university alumni associations to create academic, mentoring and career programs. Schools like Stewart Elementary pictured above. Our alumni partners include Boston College, Harvard University, University of Illinois and MIT to name a few.

By joining the #100for100 advisory board with a $100 contribution, you will be part of a movement that will provide the funds to bring academic, mentoring and career programs into a dozen additional schools between now and next May. Also:

  • The #100for100 will have the choice and opportunity to read to kids on Fridays, help them with science fairs, be presenters for career days, explain what college was like, why they should be excited to go, and more (all examples of our partnership programs).
  • Invitations to #100for100 monthly mixers. We’ll have private, sponsored events so the advisory board can network with one another, share ideas, and discuss the progress we’re making. We’ll also profile two board members every week on a blog so that we can learn more about one another.
  • We’ll turn ideas from possibilities to group projects. You can choose your level of involvement, and there are no traditional board meetings. We’ll use technology to manage projects, present ideas, get feedback from the #100for100, and solve problems. We’ll also discuss projects in-person, during mixers.

We can’t always give kids what they want. But when you become a member of the #100for100 with your $100 contribution, we will be able to give more students the education they need.
